Cathedral and Adoration Chapel Visitation

As a reminder to parishioners and visitors alike, the Cathedral doors will be locked Monday through Friday, following the 12:10 p.m. Mass (closing at approximately 2:00 p.m.). For those who wish to pray later in the day, the Adoration Chapel is open until 7:00 p.m. Access to the Chapel is through the North Cathedral door on Clinton Avenue closest to the Msgr. Melton Auditorium (Gym). On weekends the entire Cathedral is open until the completion of that day’s final Mass.

Charismatic Prayer Group

The Charismatic Prayer Group meets in an informal worship session to praise and listen to God. Praise is expressed in a number of ways: songs, formal or spontaneous prayer, and silence. God speaks to those gathered through scripture, teaching, charismatic gifts and personal sharing.

Nocturnal Adoration Society

The Nocturnal Adoration Society is an international prayer society established simply to give to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, what is rightfully His: the adoration of His Real Presence in the Holy Eucharist. Being in His Presence can confer a feeling of peace and tranquility and provides an opportunity to adore Jesus and draw closer to Him. For two hours on the First Friday of each month, from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm, the Blessed Sacrament is exposed on the altar. During the first hour, formal prayers from the Office of the Blessed Sacrament are recited in community. The second hour is reserved for silent prayer and adoration. Additionally, each November, an evening Mass is celebrated in the Cathedral attended by parish societies from throughout the diocese.

Prayer Ministry

Inspired by Bishop John R. McGann’s pastoral letter entitled, Comfort My People (1997), this ministry invites everyone to pray for community and individual needs. It especially welcomes those who are ill, homebound or otherwise unable to participate in other ministries. Members are simply asked to pray, in whatever way they wish, for the parish and for intentions submitted in writing and placed in the box located at the shrine of the American Saints in the Cathedral. These intentions are mailed to members each month along with some materials for their reflection. This program is coordinated by the Office of Social Ministry.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary

Monday through Saturday after 9:00 A.M. Mass in the Cathedral except on First Saturday when it is recited at 8:30 A.M.

Stations of the Cross

St. Monica Parents Intercession Prayer Group

The focus of the prayer will be for the guidance, safety, health and faith of our children. The prayer will consist of the Rosary and other prayers, some of which ask for the intercession of Saints Monica and Michael on behalf of their children. Parents, grandparents, godparents, siblings, aunts, uncles and friends are welcome to attend. The group meets on the first and third Thursday of each month, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Holy Cross Chapel which is located in the Parish Ministries Building.

Rosary Altar Society

This Society’s main purpose is to honor Mary through increased devotion to the rosary and to enrich the lives of our members through meetings and other activities. Some of the activities and events of the Society are a Day of Recollection, religious and secular programs at the monthly meetings, participation in Mary’s Day in May, and a St. Patrick’s luncheon. Members also have the opportunity to serve the parish through hosting the receptions that follow the Holy Thursday Chrism Mass and priesthood ordination, through visitation at nursing homes and by reciting the Rosary after the 9 a.m. Mass on weekdays. The Rosary Society is open to all women of the parish. Meetings are held on the third Monday of most months at 1:00 p.m. in the Parish Center.

Walking With Purpose

Walking With Purpose is the modern woman’s guide to the Bible. Have you ever considered that your day-to-day struggles are, at their core, timeless and universal? Though your challenges are deeply personal, they are also deeply human, and God has provided workable solutions for you through the teachings of Christ and the Roman Catholic Church. Walking with Purpose would like to help you enjoy a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ, nurtured through personal Bible study and small group discussions created just for women.
