As you prepare for your wedding liturgy, the music staff of Saint Agnes Cathedral stands ready to help make your celebration a joyful and prayer filled experience. Please contact the Music Office at 516-764-9578 or weddings@stagnescathedral.org if you have any questions about the information presented here.

At each wedding liturgy there are two musicians: a cathedral organist and a cathedral cantor. The music stipend is given to the cathedral priest who is arranging your wedding along with the check for the cathedral one month prior to the wedding. Checks should be made payable to “The Music Department.” Additional musicians for the wedding liturgy (brass, strings, choirs) are also available and should be arranged through the music office. Permission for a guest organist or cantor must be obtained from the Cathedral Music Office. When permission is granted, the music fee must still be provided by the couple. All arrangements should be completed one month prior to the date of the wedding.

It is important to realize that, amidst all the preparations for your wedding day, your marriage liturgy is unique among the many events of the day. The church speaks of marriage in ways different from a civil ceremony or even from your reception. In the liturgical celebration of Christian marriage we recognize that it is Christ who “unites man and woman in an unbreakable bond of love and peace,” and that this union reflects the union which exists between Christ and the Church.

The wedding liturgy joins your families and friends together in one place. But it is more than a simple social gathering. It is a celebration of three-dimensional love: the love shared by you, the bride and groom; the love present in the gathered assembly; and the all encompassing love of God for all people.

Each of the sections below provide audio samples performed in the Cathedral by representatives of the St. Agnes Cathedral Music Ministry and they can assist the bride and groom in selecting music for their wedding ceremony at St. Agnes Cathedral.

Please use the Wedding Music Form to identify your selections. This brochure gives specific titles for each piece.

Please note that all selections should be returned to the Music Office one month prior to the wedding. You may call the Music Office at 516-764-9578, fax them to the cathedral at 516-763-0745 or send them by email to weddings@stagnescathedral.org.
